Nationally known educator and teacher trainer . . .
The co-Chairman of the foundation is Osaka resident and nationally known educator/teacher trainer, Kaj Schwermer. Born in Germany and raised in Canada, Kaj maintains dual EU and Canadian citizenship to this day. Although he may not look it, Kaj is actually Japanese. His mother is a native of Toyonaka and was one of the first Japanese women to be granted a tourist visa to leave the country after the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. Kaj spent many of his childhood summers visiting his grandparents here in Kansai and has strong roots in the region.

He has been living full-time in Kansai for the past 13 years and, despite having spent time living in Hawaii, London, San Francisco and Vancouver, and traveling extensively throughout North America and Europe, believes that the Kansai region has one of the best lifestyles the world has to offer.

Like Mr. Kessler, Kaj is also an avid health advocate. He is a non-smoker, does not drink any alcohol or coffee, eats a healthy diet and practices meditation, yoga and martial arts regularly. As often as he can, he also spends time hiking around the mountains that surround Osaka.
